Privacy Policy
Last updated April 10, 2026
Overview
Barrel is an archived macOS app. This policy explains how the app and this website handle your data. In short: we don't collect personal data, we don't track you, and we don't sell anything to anyone.
The App
Barrel runs entirely on your local machine. It does not upload or transmit the results of your scans, your system information, or your files. Everything stays on your device. The app contacts the internet only to cache the Homebrew API for scanning and to validate your license — nothing else.
Past Purchases
Licenses purchased while Barrel was for sale were processed by our payment partner, Lemon Squeezy. Any personal information collected at checkout (such as your email) is held by them under their own privacy policy: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
This Website
This site uses Plausible Analytics for general usage statistics (page views, device type, referrer). Plausible is a privacy-first provider that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individual visitors. Read their data policy.
Data Retention
Since we do not collect personal data, we do not retain or archive any user-specific information. Purchase records are held by Lemon Squeezy under their retention policy.
Children's Privacy
Barrel is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect or process data from anyone under this age.
Changes to This Policy
Because Barrel is archived, this policy is unlikely to change. If material updates are ever needed, the date above will be updated.
